Learn how to make delicious Easy Christmas Oreo Truffles. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 36 Oreo cookies (about 1 package, regular or chocolate creme)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet or white chocolate chips (or a mix for a festive look)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candy or colored sprinkles for garnish

If you’re looking to switch things up, you can swap cream cheese for mascarpone for a richer, silkier texture, or use dark chocolate chips if you prefer a deeper chocolate flavor. For a dairy-free version, coconut cream cheese and dairy-free chocolate chips work beautifully.

Instructions

  1. Start by placing the Oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse until they’re fine crumbs. If you don’t have a processor, toss the cookies in a sealed plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin until you have fine crumbs with a few larger bits for texture.
  2. Transfer the cookie crumbs to a bowl and add the softened cream cheese and vanilla extract. Mix well with a sturdy spoon or your hands until the mixture is uniform and sticky.
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a small cookie scoop or tablespoon, form the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on the sheet. Chill for at least 1 hour, or until firm. This step reminds me of waiting for Mama Lu’s biscuits to rise—patience always pays off.
  4. While the truffles chill, melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second bursts, stirring between each until smooth. Be careful not to overheat—the chocolate should be glossy and fluid, not burnt or grainy.
  5. Using a fork or toothpick, dip each truffle into the melted chocolate, letting excess drip off before placing it back on the parchment paper. If you like, sprinkle crushed peppermint or festive sprinkles on top before the chocolate sets.
  6. Once all the truffles are coated, return them to the fridge for about 30 minutes or until the chocolate is firm.
  7. Serve chilled or at room temperature and watch how quickly they disappear amidst holiday hugs and stories.
