Learn how to make delicious ground beef and broccoli recipes. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

If you don’t have fresh broccoli, frozen works just as well. And if you prefer a lighter version, you can substitute ground turkey for beef.

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  3. While the beef is cooking, steam the broccoli florets until they’re bright green and tender-crisp, about 5 minutes.
  4. Mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and beef broth in a small bowl. Pour this mixture over the browned beef, stirring to combine.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Add this to the beef mixture, stirring until the sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.
  6. Gently fold in the steamed broccoli, ensuring it’s well coated with the sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Remove from heat and serve hot, perhaps over a bed of steamed rice or alongside some crusty bread, just like Mama Lu would have loved.
