Learn how to make delicious ground beef recipes for dinner easy. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup frozen peas (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Feel free to make this recipe your own by substituting ingredients. Don’t have bell peppers? Try zucchini or carrots instead. Mama Lu always encouraged creativity in the kitchen, saying, “The best recipes are the ones you make your own.”

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent and aromatic, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned, stirring occasionally, about 6-8 minutes.
  3. Stir in the diced bell pepper and continue to cook for another 3 minutes until the pepper begins to soften.
  4. Mix in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Let it simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and add the frozen peas if using. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes until the peas are heated through.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, adding more salt or pepper to your preference.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.

Cooking this dish always takes me back to those days of shelling peas with Mama Lu. She taught me that the best lessons in life, much like the best meals, are learned with patience and shared with love.
