Learn how to make delicious Lavender Honey Latte Bliss. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 cup whole milk (or your favorite milk alternative like oat or almond)
  • 1 teaspoon dried culinary lavender buds (make sure they’re food grade)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (local honey if you can find it — it adds a little extra magic)
  • 1 shot (about 1 ounce) freshly brewed espresso or strong coffee
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, but it adds that warm, cozy touch)
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon (for garnish, optional but lovely)

If you don’t have espresso on hand, strong brewed coffee works just fine — I remember mornings when all we had was that dark, robust pot brewed over the stovetop. And for honey, if you’re out, maple syrup or agave nectar can stand in, though they’ll bring their own unique sweetness to the drink.

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk gently in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. You want it warm but not boiling — around 150°F is perfect if you have a thermometer. This is the part where I think of Mama Lu’s soft hands, stirring the pot gently, never rushing the process.
  2. Once the milk is warm, add the dried lavender buds. Let them steep for about 5 minutes, keeping the heat low. You’ll start to smell that sweet, floral aroma — it’s like the Blue Ridge Mountains in a cup.
  3. Strain the milk through a fine mesh sieve to remove the lavender buds. Pour the infused milk back into the saucepan and stir in the honey and vanilla extract, if using. Warm it just a bit more, but don’t let it boil.
  4. Brew your espresso or strong coffee. If you’re like me, sometimes the best coffee comes from that old stovetop pot, bubbling away while the sun rises.
  5. Pour the espresso into your favorite mug, then add the lavender honey milk. Stir gently to blend all those beautiful flavors.
  6. If you want, sprinkle a pinch of ground cinnamon on top for a little extra warmth and color, just like Mama Lu’s cornbread had that golden crust kissed by the oven’s heat.
  7. Take a moment to inhale the aroma, settle into your porch swing, and savor each sip.
